After two years of pandemic-related deprivation on the events front, the coast is finally clear for people to fill their diaries with events that bring the city to life.

Digital City Festival

March 7-11 2022

After a virtual 2021, the Digital City Festival will bring the global digital sector together for a week of physical events across Greater Manchester in March. The centrepiece is a two-day expo on March 9th and 10th, when the latest developments in tech, ecommerce, marketing and media will be explored via a world-class exhibition and a programme of keynote speakers, panels and masterclasses.

June 11-12 2022

The UK's biggest metropolitan festival is back to its usual June date in the calendar after an autumnal airing amid the lockdowns of 2021. American rapper Tyler, The Creator will be making his eagerly anticipated UK headline debut on making his eagerly-anticipated UK headline debut, with other big names confirmed including 50 Cent, Megan Thee Stallion and Lewis Capaldi. The Parklife team is also promising some spectacular new stages to be unveiled over the next few months.

Sounds of the City

June 28 - July 8 2022 

After a couple of years off, Castlefield Bowl will once again play host to a series of big-name acts, including Lewis Capaldi, Foals, Crowded House, James, Pixies, Sam Fender and Hacienda Classical​. The amphitheatre-style venue makes for a wonderful arena amid the railway arches and converted apartments of the Castlefield area of Manchester city centre. The likes of Chic, New Order, The Courteeners and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds have all played Sounds of the City in recent years.

Manchester Pride

August 27-30 2022

Manchester Pride is one of the world's leading celebrations of LGBTQ+ life, with a Bank Holiday weekend of campaigning, celebrating and fundraising events. Current planned events include the Gay Village Party, Manchester Pride Parade, Superbia Weekend and the closing Candlelit Vigil, a gathering in Sackville Gardens to remember those lost to HIV, and those still facing LGBTQ+ persecution globally. A globally renowned event and a burst of colour to close the summer.

Manchester Science Festival

October 21-31 2022

The next edition of this biennial festival arrives in October and is sure to be a highlight of the city’s cultural calendar. Based at the Museum of Science and Industry, this year's event will pose the challenging question: what might the future hold for humankind? Expect a packed schedule of inspiring and entertaining experiences for all ages at what is now indisputably one of the most popular science festivals in the UK.
